January can be disheartening – we’re back at work, we’ve blown all our money, we’re still carrying a hangover from all the parties (maybe) – but there’s something about the prospect of a new year that triggers the desire to start anew and forget the past. And with that, I swear by these get-organised-and-get-going accessories to setting 2014 off on the right foot.
Get An Organiser (Better yet, make it a Filofax)
I’ve carried a Filofax for many years and my A5 Sienna travels with me every day round London-town storing many-a post it notes, rogue receipts and important business cards. I find writing things down makes me remember them better so here’s to another year with it by my side. If I can make a suggestion when choosing a Filofax, it’s to get a real leather one, it will age like that great leather jacket you love in your wardrobe and really, you only ever need to buy this once.
Back It Up
I don’t have much luck with hard drives, I’ve lost data twice now, not necessarily by not backing up, but by relying on just one device to hold all my precious editorial work and photos over the years. Because of this, I have many USB sticks and memory drives scattered round my desk at home and at work, plus one that I particularly carry round with me (my beloved Swarovksi crystal lock USB). For me, I always opt for the more blingtastic USB keys, I simply love a gadget in disguise.
Begin the new year with a clean slate and get yourself a flat pouch clutch. Making a statement on its own accord by simply being simple yet utterly desirable, if you want to get fancy, you can get yours monogrammed which Anya Hindmarch happily offers as a service on their bespoke range, go texturised or carry a print. Also doubling as a stylish travel wallet (most will easily store those cumbersome and wide airline tickets in their crisp state), it’s the ultimate piece for organised everyday style.
